Yesterday (18th February) marks Enzo Ferrari's birthday and the date chosen to open the revamped Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena, Italy. Luca di Montezemolo and Piero Ferrari, Enzo's son, opened the museum that tells the story of the man behind one of the best known names in motoring.
A new main wing to the museum has been constructed designed to offer an immersive experience. Eighteen video projectors are used to take visitors back in time and surround them with images and sounds. The journey covers over 100 years, exploring Enzo Ferrari's career as a driver, team manager and car manufacturer. There are cars too, representing the road and racing machines from the company's history.
The Enzo Ferrari Museum is entrusted to Ferrari by the foundation owning the building; made up of the Modena institutions: Commune, Province, Chamber of Commerce and Automobile Club, with the support of the Cassa di Risparmio Foundation.
Anything else?
With the opening of the Enzo Ferrari Museum there are now two museums dedicated to the company: the new establishment in Modena and the Museo Ferrari in Maranello. Both attractions are open throughout the year except for Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
