Geneva launch for new Citroen C5 CrossTourer

Citroen C5 CrossTourer takes aim at crossover market.

Late to the game it may be, but Citroen is aiming its newly announced C5 Tourer variant at the lucrative crossover market. The C5 CrossTourer features what Citroen calls Hydractive III+ suspension. Essentially, the system adapts to road conditions and driving styles to keep the car as level as possible. Added to the C5 CrossTourer is Intelligent Traction Control, for snow and muddy conditions. Pre-orders are being taken now, though it's not yet clear if the car will be made for right-hand drive markets.

Exterior
The C5 CrossTourer is differentiated by additional trim such as new wing extensions, roof bars, bumpers and 18-inch wheels painted in a matte grey. The aim is to give the Citroen a much more rugged, 'soft-roader' look.

Interior
So far, we hear that small luxuries such as full leather upholstery and a massaging driver's seat are added to the car to make the interior more appealing-. The Citroen eMyWay navigation system and reversing camera are added as well.

Mechanicals
With the Hydractive III+ suspension, Citroen says the car adapts its ride height automatically at speed. At up to 10km/h it rises up 60mm; that reduces to 40mm at speeds of up to 40km/h; and to 15mm extra clearance until 70km/h. The Hydractive III+ suspension comes with all engine sizes, except the HDi 115 manual and e-HDi 115 Airdream EGS6. Note that the CrossTourer does not have four-wheel drive.

Anything else?
Pre-orders are being taken in France for the car ahead of its Geneva show launch, though at present there are no plans to sell the CrossTourer in Ireland.
