Volkswagen Taigun in Delhi

Updated Volkswagen Taigun compact SUV concept shown at the New Delhi Motor Show.

Volkswagen has shown an updated Taigun concept at the New Delhi Motor Show. Since the compact SUV made its debut in Sao Paulo the company has listened to feedback and made some changes to the design, bringing it closer to production.

Exterior
A new rear-end has been created with the spare wheel mounted on the tailgate. Customer feedback from the original design was to be able to access the spare wheel without having to empty the boot first. Other than that, the Taigun has been given a coat of orange paint, but the chunky styling and compact dimensions remain.

Interior
Inside there are beige seats with orange piping, which doesn't look very practical, but the upholstery is described as easy to clean. The beige and orange colour scheme is carried throughout the interior while the dashboard design was apparently inspired by smartphones and tablet computers.

Mechanicals
One thing that hasn't changed is the 1.0-litre, turbocharged, direct injection petrol engine. To recap the significant figures, there is 110hp, a claimed 0-100km/h time of 9.2 seconds, fuel economy of 60.1mpg and CO2 emissions of 110g/km.

Anything else?
Volkswagen will gauge the press and public's reaction to the concept and will incorporate their feedback in the production model - which sounds like confirmation that the Taigun will be built.
