Subaru's continuing Legacy

Latest Subaru Legacy will be unveiled next week at the Chicago Auto Show; 25 years after the first version went on sale.

The new Subaru Legacy is less than a week away from being unveiled at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show. A teaser photograph has been released to whet our appetites for the sixth generation of Subaru's saloon.

From the official image it looks like many of the styling cues from Subaru's 2013 Legacy concept have made it through to production. The outline is less a traditional 'three-box' saloon and more coupé-like, with a sweeping roof line and stubby boot. If anything the waist-level crease seems more prominent in the teaser photo than it was on the concept car, although that might be a result of the toned down (but still noticeable) blistered wheel arches.

Subaru hasn't revealed anything about the Legacy's mechanicals but it seems safe to assume that the line-up will feature boxer engines and all-wheel drive.

Anything else?
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Legacy, which was launched in Japan on 23rd January 1989. The US specification model will be revealed first, on 6th February; we'll have to wait and see if a European specification Legacy gets unveiled at the Geneva show in March.
