Lexus continues Detroit striptease

Cropped shot shows Lexus' first hardcore F model since the hot IS.

Yeah, yeah; Christmas. Too much turkey, disappointing socks and an overdose of selection boxes. Are we done yet? Can we get on with the stuff we actually care about? Such as the Detroit Auto Show that kicks off in early January.

Lexus is going to be bringing its big guns to Motown, in the shape of an F version of the new RC coupé. Ditching its beloved hybrid in favour of a rip-snorting 500hp from a massive V8 engine, the RC F is going to be a serious (and seriously sexy) competitor to the recently unveiled new BMW M3 and M4.

"Engineered from scratch" is how Lexus describes the car in a pretty scanty official statement, and that it "promises to deliver performance synonymous with Lexus' heritage of F-designated performance vehicles."

Anything else?
Lexus will also be showing the RC 300h hybrid with 2.5-litre petrol power and the RC 350 with the non-hybrid 3.5-litre V6 engine. Do we care about these, now that there's going to be an F version? No. No we do not.
