BMW Motorsport launches stunning M235i Racing

Gorgeous new race car based on forthcoming BMW 2 Series Coupé.

BMW Motorsport has announced full details for the track-honed M235i Racing that's now available with a pre-tax price tag of €59,500. For this figure you get a stripped out racer complete with the powerful twin-turbo engine from the road going M235i Coupé.

Exterior
Visually, aside from the racing livery, the bodywork is very similar to that of its road car counterpart. There are, however, some spoilers at the front and back, a rear diffuser and some carbon-fibre wing mirrors; and the alloys have been upgraded to black, lightweight 18-inch items, too. The new colour on the wheels can also be found on the car's side skirts, front and rear bumpers and the lip boot spoiler as well.

Interior
As you would expect from a racer, the interior is very sparse indeed. As well as stripping out all the car's standard seats to make room for a single Recaro racing chair complete with a six-point harness, BMW Motorsport has also fitted a full FIA-spec roll cage. Buyers can also choose to have a passenger seat installed, just in case they want to take a friend along.

Mechanicals
With a lightened body and a new aero kit, the 333hp that finds its way out of the car's 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six should be more than enough to set some decent lap times. These times will undoubtedly be helped by the KW dampers, a H&R suspension system, and four- and two-pot brakes fitted to the front and rear respectively. In addition, the M235i Racing comes with a mechanical limited-slip differential as well as ABS, DSC and TCS systems that have been tuned specifically for the track.

Anything else?
BMW says that it has already secured 30 orders for the M235i Racing that will initially be used at events like the VLN Endurance and the Nurburgring 24 Hours. With the manufacturer describing the new racer as a more accessible version of the flagship Z4 GT3, the M235i Racing will ultimately take part in the BMW Sports Trophy that has now been running for more than half a century.
