Another mad Lambo unveiled

Lamborghini shows off its limited edition Veneno Roadster - on an aircraft carrier.

This is the Veneno Roadster - a limited edition of just nine examples that will set its lucky owners back around €3.5 million. It was unveiled onboard the Nave Cavour - an Italian aircraft carrier that was docked at the Mina Zayed port in Abu Dhabi; probably the most suitable place to reveal such an expensive and exclusive supercar.

Exterior
It's insane. I mean, properly insane. Its low-slung profile has more vents and slashes than it does bodywork, from its aggressive, sloping nose to the extreme rear wing. There's an all-round carbon fibre body kit comprising a front splitter, wide side skirts and a huge rear diffuser that's outlined in red, mimicking both the tyres and the thin strip of LEDs that make up the rear lights. And how could you not notice the central fin, extending from the cabin to become a support for the very ostentatious back spoiler?

Interior
What with the Veneno Roadster having such a hardcore exterior, you'd expect the cabin to be more of the same. And it is. The bucket seats, sports steering wheel and dashboard are awash with Alcantara; while carbon fibre makes up the rest of the cabin. In front of the driver are dials that are backlit in yellow; while to the right are three toggle switches that wouldn't look out of place in an actual fighter jet. Oh, and they're coloured to match the Italian flag. In terms of colour, the red detailing that features on the outside of the Veneno has been carried into the dashboard, seats, centre console and door pulls.

Mechanicals
To power a car with a monstrous look, you need a monstrous engine. Therefore, the Veneno Roadster gets a 750hp, 6.5-litre V12 that's mounted behind the two occupants. Thanks to a sequential gearbox, four-wheel drive and a 1,490kg dry weight, this means a 0-100km/h time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 354km/h. And in case you were wondering, that mental aero kit isn't just for display, as its adjustable rear wing works together with pushrod suspension to make sure this power can be used through the bends as well.

Anything else?
"The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster is one of the world's most exclusive cars with the most extraordinary performance," says Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Lamborghini. "We are honoured that we have the opportunity to show the Veneno Roadster for the first time in Abu Dhabi; with the Middle East being one of our largest markets in the world."

Lamborghini will also be making three coupé examples of the Veneno - for those who want to be just that little bit more exclusive.
