Suzuki Crosshiker concept points to Juke rival

Compact crossover one of three Tokyo Motor Show debuts from Suzuki.

Say hello to the Suzuki Crosshiker, a Nissan Juke-rivalling compact crossover that was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show this week. In fact, at 3,650mm long, 1,695mm wide and 1,540mm high the Crosshiker is smaller than the class leading Juke, but there are enough motor show frivolities to suggest that should the concept make production it will have to undergo a number of changes.

Much of those frivolities are inside, where Suzuki has seen fit to include an aircraft style cutaway steering wheel to the pared-down interior. That'll never work, and nor will the ultra-thin sculpted seats (not if you value comfort) or the great looking, but utterly useless instrument cluster.

Anything else?
Power for the Crosshiker is conventional, as it packs a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine under the bonnet connected to a CVT transmission. No word on a power output for the engine but with the concept tipping the scales at a positively anorexic 810kg it would not need much anyway.
