World touring Fords arrive in Ireland

Two Ford Fiestas call to Dublin during their 'world tour'.

This week saw two examples of the Ford Fiesta complete the Irish leg of a world tour that will see the supermini cover four continents and more than 24,000 kilometres, culminating at the Sydney Motor Show in October this year.

The tour started in Los Angeles on August 20, and crossed the US to New York. Next stop was Irish soil and Shannon, County Clare last weekend (September 4). The worldwide expedition has been organised to mark the launch of the Ford Fiesta in the US and to celebrate the millionth Fiesta sale, which will occur during this month (September).

When in the west of Ireland the two Fiestas paid a visit to the village of Lisdoonvarna, to meet with local matchmaker Willie Daley.

The tour has now set sail across the Irish Sea to Britain and will call to mainland Europe, China, Thailand and Singapore en-route to the Australian continent so as to finish up at the Sydney Motor Show later this year.
