Hyundai to launch baby 'crossover'

The new Hyundai ix20 mini-MPV will debut at the Paris Motor Show.

Hyundai will launch a brand new B-segment crossover at the Paris Motor Show called the ix20.

According to the Korean car maker, it's 'a striking departure from the boxy minivan image typically associated with the segment,' says Hyundai. Obviously that statement doesn't include sister company Kia's Venga...

Like the Hyundai ix35, the ix20 was developed in Europe and designed at Hyundai's Russelsheim design centre in Germany, using Hyundai's so called 'fluidic sculpture' design language.

The sketch you see here shows a decidedly rakish mini-MPV, though we expect the production model will be a little more upright. Hyundai promises it will be fun to drive, but says nothing of engines, spec, or the sort of interior flexibility buyers might enjoy.

Hyundai will also be showing an updated i10 city car, complete with a new 1.0-litre petrol engine boasting just 99g/km.
