Being a full-fat BlueMotion model (rather than a 'BlueMotion Technology' vehicle) the new van is a full 1.1 litres/100km better than the current offering thanks in part to an engine stop-start function, low rolling resistance tyres, brake regeneration, a ride height lowered by 27mm and tweaks to the engine's computer programming. Power for the Caddy BlueMotion will come from a 102hp/250Nm 1.6-litre TDI engine that is theoretically capable of covering over 1,300km on a single 60-litre tank of diesel.
Anything else?
Van spotters will be able to pick out the BlueMotion Caddy from its traditional sibling thanks to its lower ride height, unique hub caps, painted rub strips and of course BlueMotion badging. Equipment for the most frugal Caddy will include hill hold assist, cruise control, exclusive seat upholstery - and air vent surrounds in high-gloss black for the passenger version.
No word on availability in the Irish market has yet been released.
