MINI's plans for Frankfurt

Expanded options list to be showcased on MINI's Frankfurt stand.

MINI has now announced its plans for the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. With no new model to display, MINI has turned its attention to its ever expanding list of optional extras that buyers can specify to personalise their new car.

Energy-saving headlights
Yes, you read that correctly. MINI is to be the first car brand in the world to offer 'retrofit 25-watt xenon headlamps' to both new and existing MINI owners. The new bulb is said to be just as bright as regular xenon headlamps, and will offer a much longer service life than a traditional halogen bulb, yet will consume a lot less energy along the way. These have been introduced alongside retrofit LED daytime running lights. The new clusters are formed of fog lights, side lights and daytime running lights all fashioned out of LEDs.

New portable satnav
MINI will also be showcasing its new portable satellite navigation system called the Navigation Portable XL. The large screen measures 4.3 inches and comes with a TMC Premium traffic jam warning system installed as standard. In addition, the device comes with a dock that allows it to be fitted to any existing MINI dashboard.

MINI's mini-seats
A new range of child seats has now been designed by MINI; offering safety for children aged from 0-12 years. To cover these ages, three seats have been created; all of which can be connected to the standard ISOFIX system. They also all contain 'airpads' to protect a child's head from lateral forces in the event of an accident and are available in various colours.

Anything else?
The MINI stand wouldn't be complete without cars of course, so MINI will have on display every model in the company's current range, including John Cooper Works editions.

The 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show runs from 10th-22nd September.
