Insignia infotainment upgrade

Latest generation infotainment system will be introduced on the Opel Insignia range at Frankfurt.

Opel will equip the Insignia and Insignia Country Tourer with its IntelliLink infotainment system. The updated models will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 12th September. It is part of the same family of information and entertainment systems that was introduced on the Opel Adam earlier this year.

Using an eight-inch touch screen the system can connect via Bluetooth to a phone or USB to phones, tablets, MP3 players and similar devices. Eight core functions are available from the main screen, each of which can be customised allowing up to 60 favourites to be saved.

There are four ways to control the IntelliLink system; in addition to the touch screen itself there are buttons on the steering wheel, a centre console touch pad and voice activation. The touch screen and touch pad are designed to be intuitive to use, like a smartphone. Backing up the main screen is a display of key infotainment data in the instrument cluster, directly in the driver's line of sight. Functions from this screen can be selected via controls on the right of the steering wheel.

Anything else?
Opel hasn't skimped on the sound system; a nine-speaker installation by Bose is available. This features two subwoofers, four broadband speakers and tweeters plus a digital sound processor.

The updated Insignia will be available in Ireland from November.
