Honda NSX factory and team leader announced

Honda reveals more information about the highly anticipated NSX supercar.

Honda has opened a brand new, $70 million production facility in Ohio where the all-new NSX is scheduled to be built.

The new plant will be Honda's third factory in Ohio; and has been constructed on the grounds of Honda's former North American Logistics facility. It is also within close proximity to its current Research and Development plant, as well as its Engineering Centre where new production technologies are made.

The 184,000 square foot facility will employ around 100 people from Honda's existing production team, led by Ted Klaus and Clement D'Souza.

Klaus will take control of the global research team that is shaping and developing Honda's new supercar. "We have a very clear understanding of high customer expectations, and our job is to exceed them," comments Klaus. "This new Performance Manufacturing Centre will be key to this challenge."

With Klaus taking care of research, D'Souza is in charge of making the NSX a reality; and bringing it to 'mass' production in 2015. "This new plant will be as unique as the vehicle we build here," says D'Souza.

Unique is right. The new model will have a mid-mounted V6 engine linked up to a brand new Sport Hybrid Super Handling All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system. Still, we'll have to wait another couple of years before we can get our hands on one. The 2015 release date is important for Honda as it marks the tenth anniversary of the original NSX ceasing production. The pioneering NSX was made for a full 15 years, and only time will tell if the next generation can follow suit.
