Updated ASX crossover hits Ireland

Mitsubishi's facelifted ASX is now on sale in Ireland.

Mitsubishi's ASX crossover has recently undergone a facelift and the new model is now on sale across Ireland. Featuring a refreshed look and a choice of two engines, Mitsubishi hopes the updated car will continue the success of the previous model, which has sold over 250,000 examples since mid-2010 around the world.

Exterior
The overall image of the ASX remains largely unchanged. The front bumper has a slightly softer look and both the headlights and fog lights have been slightly tweaked. Round the back, the rear bumper has been cropped at the bottom giving better ground clearance.

Interior
The layout of the interior also bears many similarities to the outgoing version's. A new fabric design has been fitted to the latest model and more chrome can be found on the dashboard. Only one trim level is offered for the new ASX and the standard equipment list has grown. The dash now features an infotainment system complete with Bluetooth and voice activation. Other factory fit equipment includes automatic climate control and cruise control.

Mechanicals
Two engines are available on the latest ASX - a 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.8-litre diesel. Power outputs sit at 116hp for both; and both emit 137g/km of CO2. The benefits of the diesel engine are evident in the economy figures though, as it manages 55.3mpg; as opposed to the petrol's 47.1mpg figure.

In terms of driver aids, Hill Start Assist is fitted to all models, while Mitsubishi's Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) construction methods aim to keep occupants safe.

Anything else?
Prices for the new Mitsubishi ASX start at €23,960 for the petrol version and €26,960 for the diesel. Both models also come with Mitsubishi's eight-year/150,000km warranty at no extra cost.
