New look for Skoda Superb

Skoda has given its spacious Superb model a nip and tuck inside and out.

Skoda has released first details on what is a comprehensively facelifted Superb and Superb Combi. The new Superb reflects the more modern family appearance currently seen on the all-new Octavia and Rapid models. In addition to new grille, headlights, fog lights and bumpers the Superb also gains new front wings and bonnet meaning it is now totally redesigned right up to the A-pillar, all of which help give it a more distinctive look.

Exterior
The spacious interior gets new materials and patterns on the seats. The highest trim level, the Laurin & Klement (L&K) gets a new brown and ivory colour combination. There is no physical change inside with regard to space and legroom but the Superb was never lacking either.

Interior
The extensive update gives the Superb a modern look and makes it instantly recognisable as a Skoda. Buyers can now choose to add bi-xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lamps as an option. The rear gets a simple, clean design and gives further emphasis to the C-shape rear lights, which, for the first time on the Superb, will be made up of LED strips. Two additional colours have been added to the Superb range - Meteor Grey and Moon White - while new alloy wheel designs have been introduced ranging from 16- to 18-inch in diameter.

Mechanicals
All diesel engines in the Superb range, as well as the entry-level 1.4 TSI petrol engine, will come equipped with start-stop to help lower emissions and improve fuel economy. Buyers opting for the four-wheel drive 2.0-litre TDI Superb can now order it with a manual gearbox, while the higher powered 170hp 2.0-litre TDI unit can now be ordered with a DSG dual clutch transmission.

Anything else?
Boot space is unchanged in both the Superb and Superb Combi, but remain a class leading 595- and 633 litres respectively. Folding down the rear seats in the Combi this can be extended to a massive 1,865 litres of storage.

Tech wise the Skoda offers keyless entry and engine start system while there are four different navigation systems available, the best of which, Columbus, comes with a 6.5-inch colour touch screen and 30GB hard drive.
