Kia's first hot hatch revealed

First hot hatchbacks from Kia, the pro_cee'd GT and cee'd GT, will make their debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Kia has confirmed that performance oriented versions of the pro_cee'd and cee'd will be launched at the Geneva Motor Show on 5th March. Carrying GT badges the pair feature a new turbocharged petrol engine. Production will start in mid-May with the pro-cee'd GT due to go on sale in Ireland first, around the summer.

Exterior
The styling is described as 'bold and athletic' with 18-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers and dual exhausts.

Interior
Kia hasn't said much about the interior but the front seats are by Recaro and the steering wheel carries a GT logo.

Mechanicals
Under the bonnet the GT models come with a 204hp, 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Drive goes to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. The 0-100km/h sprint is claimed to take 7.9 seconds.

Anything else?
The five-door cee'd GT is scheduled to go on sale by the end of 2013; Kia will announce prices and full specifications for both models closer to their on sale dates.
