New Renault Clio arrives January 2013

Ireland sees the next generation Clio next year after 33 years on sale. Starting price released.

Renault has announced that the new Clio will hit Ireland's shores in January next year. Prices start at €14,990.

Exterior
Breaking tradition, the new Clio is only available in five-door form; however a coupé-like profile and concealed rear door handles give the impression that it's a three-door. The new model sits 45mm lower than the old car too, creating a sportier image that is helped by the steeply raked windscreen, higher window lines and larger wheels. All versions get daytime running lights, while front fog lamps, alloy wheels and chrome detailing are also available.

Interior
Three trim levels are available at launch - Expression, Dynamique and (for the first time on a Clio) R-Link. All models come with cruise control, a speed limiter and auxiliary/USB connectivity. Dynamique versions get a Media Nav touchscreen infotainment system, air conditioning and a leather steering wheel; while R-Link models add dual-zone climate control, automatic lights and wipers and Renault's R-Link infotainment system to the mix. This system features a seven-inch media tablet with internet connectivity, voice-activation, satnav and an upgraded stereo.

Mechanicals
While base-spec cars are only offered with the 1.2-litre petrol unit, higher grades can have the new three-cylinder Energy TCe 90 petrol engine, and the Energy dCi 90 diesel. The diesel offers emissions as low as 83g/km.

Hill Hold Assist, Emergency Brake Assist and ESP are also all standard.
