Nissan recalls 1,145 Qashqais

Defective steering wheel is subject of Nissan Qashqai recall.

Nissan Ireland has announced a recall of 1,145 Qashqai and Qashqai +2 models over defective steering wheels. The recall comes after a Finnish national broadcaster reported that the steering wheel in its Qashqai came loose while it was being driven.

The recall is seen as precautionary as only 600 of the 51,000 cars being recalled across Europe may be affected. The vehicles in question were built at Nissan's Sunderland plant in the UK between February and May of this year.

All concerned customers will receive a letter from their local Nissan dealer over the coming weeks inviting them in to have their vehicle inspected. During inspections Nissan technicians will check the casting date of the steering wheel and where necessary replace the wheel at no cost to the customer. Inspections should take a maximum of 15 minutes to complete.
