Sportier Porsche Cayenne revealed

The Porsche Cayenne GTS will debut at this month's Auto China show in Beijing.

One of the stars of Porsche's line-up at this year's Auto China show in Beijing will be the new Cayenne GTS, revealed in full here. Sporting looks set the tone for the model that sits between the Cayenne S and the Turbo, while an uprated chassis and engine ensure it'll appeal to keener drivers.

The 4.8-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine is based on that of the Cayenne S, but power has been increased to 420hp. This is distributed to all four wheels via the usual eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic gearbox with 0-100km/h in just 5.7 seconds. Top speed is claimed to be 260km/h, while Porsche quietly mentions that the GTS has stop-start and returns 26.4mpg (10.7 litres/100km) on the combined cycle.

Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is fitted as standard and the Cayenne GTS sits 24mm lower than the S variant, while there's a sports exhaust out back.

A bespoke styling kit includes a restyled nose reminiscent of the Cayenne Turbo's, plenty of gloss black detailing, side skirts, wider wheelarch extensions and a twin-wing roof spoiler. Inside, leather and Alcantara seats are standard, with eight-way adjustment. Thankfully, Porsche also fits the SportDesign steering wheel with paddle-shift to the GTS model.

Following its debut in China, the Cayenne GTS goes on sale this July.
