40 million cars made in Wolfsburg

Volkswagen's Wolfsburg plant stops to celebrate 40 millionth vehicle.

Work at Volkswagen's Wolfsburg plant was stopped recently to celebrate the 40 millionth vehicle to roll off the production line. Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Volkswagen AG, was present to watch the vehicle, a Glacier Blue TSI Golf BlueMotion 105hp, complete the historic journey and marked the occasion with some words.

"Today we have 40 million reasons to be proud of our work here on his site. The entire Wolfsburg team is critical to their performance, as is their commitment to ensuring that Volkswagen achieves its long-term growth objectives," said Winterkorn.

The Wolfsburg facility currently has a production capacity of more than 3,800 vehicles per day with the Golf, Golf Plus, Touran and Tiguan all manufactured at the home of Volkswagen. Moments after the accompanying photograph was taken everybody got back to work and the facility is already well on the way to 41 million.
