Mercedes M-Class priced for Irish market

Latest Mercedes-Benz M-Class gets updated styling, a revised interior and more economical diesel engines.

The second new Mercedes-Benz model due this year, the M-Class SUV, will be introduced in the next few weeks. 

For the new model the styling has been updated to give a more defined and purposeful look.  This has been achieved with new headlamps, grille and three-pointed star.  Driver and passengers enjoy more elbow room in the revised interior, while the dashboard and upholstery are also new.

Engine choices comprise of one petrol and two diesel units.  The ML 250 CDI BlueTEC is expected to be the most popular choice.  A 2.1-litre, four-cylinder unit develops 207hp and is claimed to be 28% more economical than the model it replaces.  Fuel consumption is 6.0 litres/100km (47.1mpg) with CO2 emissions of 158g/km; the manufacturer's performance figures are 0-100km/h in nine seconds and a top speed of 210km/h.

A 3.0-litre V6 diesel is also offered in the ML 350 BlueTEC and a 3.5-litre petrol V6 is available to special order as the ML 350 BlueEFFICIENCY.  All versions of the M-Class come with a seven-speed automatic transmission and 4-MATIC all-wheel drive.  The new model features an 'on/off road package' that provides six transmission modes, air suspension with anti-roll stabilisation and the tightest turning circle in its segment according to Mercedes-Benz.

Prices start at €71,060 for the ML 250 CDI BlueTEC 4-MATIC with annual road tax of €481.  The ML 350 BlueTEC costs an extra €5,080.
