That improvement will no doubt be helped along by the 30kg weight reduction. This was brought about by fine-tuning the processes Ferrari's Scaglietti production facility uses in fabricating and constructing the aluminium car. Structural rigidity is said to be unchanged.
Further news comes in the form of an additional option for California buyers. The 'Handling Speciale' package features Magnetorheological dampers. Ferrari has even patented the software that controls these and it claims that the ECU is 50% more responsive than before, allowing minute changes to the damping as the car moves. Stiffer springs are also fitted, as is a new steering box with a quicker steering ratio.
Ferrari will launch its updated California at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
