In September we revealed a comprehensive update for the Lexus NX, the Japanese firm’s best-seller in Ireland, and indeed, one of the best-selling SUVs in its sector, notably so in the plug-in-hybrid class. Now we have confirmed Irish pricing, specifications and even an arrival date for the car.

Don’t leave us hanging…

Ah yes, well the NX 450h+ is the core variant offered, meaning the Lexus NX is to be available as a plug-in hybrid only in Ireland. Prices start from €65,810 for the Executive model, rise to €73,170 for the Luxury version and top out at €75,455 for the NX F Sport.

Lexus expects the first examples on the ground here by March 2027.

What do buyers get for their money?

The NX Executive comes with dual-zone climate control, an electric tailgate, ‘Tahara’ leather upholstery (in black, Clay Red or Hazel), heated and ventilated front seats with electric adjustment, a heated steering wheel that’s also electrically adjusted, 14-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital instrumentation, wireless smartphone mirroring and a lot more besides.

All versions come with an extensive array of active and passive safety features, while on the outside, the entry-level model features black 18-inch alloy wheels, a new frameless take on the typical Lexus ‘spindle’ grille and a choice of seven colours: F White, Sonic Platinum, Sonic Grey, Graphite Black, Celestial Blue, Radiant Red and Sonic Tellus (the green hue seen in the pictures here).

Any point upgrading to the Luxury model?

Well, it does come with a set of tasty, dark-machined 20-inch alloy wheels, along with a choice for either ‘Ammonite Sand’ or black Tahara leather upholstery.

Other additions include an opening panoramic glass roof, body-colour wheelarches (they’re unpainted in the Executive car), heated rear seats, head-up display, remote parking, digital key and a few more interior trinkets.

The F Sport car has more presence again thanks to specific styling outside and in, its own design of 20-inch rim and red brake callipers.

It’s also the only version to get Adaptive Variable Suspension.

Are they otherwise identical mechanically?

Indeed they are, though it’s worth pointing out that the NX’s plug-in-hybrid system has been upgraded for 2027. It’s more powerful yet can go further on electric power thanks to a bigger battery, while Lexus also says that the new car is more refined on the move.

Peak system power is quoted at 307hp, enabling a 0-100km/h time of just 6.1 seconds.

The new battery pack is a 22.7kWh unit, allowing an electric range of circa 100 kilometres, and it’s likely to be used in that manner more often now thanks to faster charging options.

While the previous model was limited to 6.6kW on AC, the new one can take up to 11kW on three-phase AC outlets and 50kW on DC chargers. The former allows a 0-100 per cent charge in 2.5 hours, the latter a 10-80 per cent charge in 30 minutes.

Interestingly, Lexus has also managed to reduce the weight and height of the hybrid powertrain, lowering the car’s centre of gravity in the process.

Boot space has increased to 560 litres thanks to repackaging the 12-volt battery, while the NX 450h+ can also tow up to 1,500kg on a braked trailer.
