How much is the new Dacia Sandero hybrid in Ireland?
Irish pricing for the Sandero hybrid starts from €23,490 in Expression trim (you can’t get the hybrid in the most basic Essential form) and rises to €25,240 for the Journey version. If you want the crossover-styled Sandero Stepway in hybrid form, that’ll be €25,390 in Expression trim, and €26,940 in the more rugged-looking Extreme trim.
What engine does the Sandero hybrid use?
The Sandero hybrid uses the same 155hp 1.8-litre hybrid engine as the Duster, Jogger, Striker, and Bigster, which means it also gets two electric motors (a traction motor and a starter-generator) powered by a 1.4kWh battery. As with other Renault Group hybrid models, the standard-fit automatic gearbox uses four physical gears, and the ‘gearing’ effect of the two electric motors to provide, effectively, infinite gears.

How economical is the Sandero hybrid?
Very. Dacia reckons that the hybrid engine is around 40 per cent more economical overall than a comparable non-hybrid combustion engine, and the official fuel economy figure for the Sandero HEV 155 is 4.2 litres per 100km, while for the Stepway it’s 4.4 litres per 100km. CO2 emissions are 96g/km for the Sandero and 100g/km for the Stepway, and both models can, Dacia estimates, spend as much as 80 per cent of a typical urban journey running on just electric power. For what it’s worth, the Sandero hybrid can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 8.3 seconds, which is brisk by Sandero standards.
What equipment do you get on each Sandero hybrid trim?
Expression versions of the Sandero hybrid will come with 16-inch steel wheels, a reversing camera, and a 10-inch touchscreen which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connections. You also get manual air conditioning and a centre armrest. Journey versions add 16-inch alloy wheels, built-in sat-nav, automatic air conditioning, a hands-free key card, digital instruments, blind-spot warning, and wireless phone charging. Extreme models get heated front seats and more in the way of rugged, off-road-y design features including unique seat fabrics.
How practical is the Sandero hybrid?
Very. Even with the addition of a hybrid battery, there’s still a useful 410-litre boot, which expands to 1,455 litres with the back seats folded. Both hybrid models have a maximum 1,100kg towing weight, and the Stepway has a handy 200mm ground clearance if you need to tackle any unmade roads.
