Hyundai Ireland has published a full price list for the new Hyundai Ioniq 3 on its website and as expected, the starting price for the compact electric hatchback is €27,995 after the VRT rebate and SEAI grant are taken into consideration. This places the Ioniq 3 squarely between the Hyundai Inster and Kona Electric.

What does the entry-level Hyundai Ioniq 3 come with?

The most affordable one is the Ioniq 3 Elegance fitted with the 42kWh battery pack, enabling a quoted range of up to 344 kilometres.

Included in the Elegance specification is a 12.9-inch touchscreen running Hyundai’s new Pleos software, which allows for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

On the outside are 16-inch alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors and a rear parking camera, while in the cabin is heating for the front seats and steering wheel, dual-zone climate control and adaptive cruise control.

What if I want more range?

Then you’ll need the next rung up the ladder at least, the Ioniq 3 Premium. That costs €29,995 with the 42kWh battery or €31,995 for the 61kWh item, bringing with it a WLTP range of 484km.

The Premium also comes with the much better screen setup we tried during our test drive of the Ioniq 3, which uses a larger touchscreen (14.6 inches across the diagonal) with navigation built in and, more importantly, an additional slim digital display in front of the driver.

The Elegance version doesn’t get this at all so the driver needs to glance at the central screen to see the car’s speed, etc.

There’s plenty more reason to opt for the Premium model, as it gets a remote parking function, 18-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, electric folding door mirrors and a wireless smartphone charging pad.

On the subject of charging, this model is also upgraded with a battery preconditioning feature, while it can also be fitted with a heat pump – for an extra €750.

I like the sporty looking one…

Ah, that’s the N Line car, featuring even more distinctive styling outside and in (we do love the ‘Fierce Red Matte’ paint colour in particular), N Line alloys (18-inch items), upgraded headlights and more. It’s only offered with the 61kWh battery and it costs €36,495.

Also included in the price are an upgraded Bose sound system, digital-key functionality, ambient lighting and a surround-view monitor.

If you want even more bells and whistles, the Ioniq 3 N Line Platinum is available on special order at €42,495. Its wheels are a 19-inch design, it gets 22kW AC charging capability, a glass roof, heated rear seats and front seats upgraded to ‘Premium Relaxation’ spec with ventilation.
