What’s different about the Skoda Epiq Sportline?
Well, it looks sportier than the standard Epiq, picking up where the early — but limited-production — First Edition left off. There are body-coloured bumpers front and rear, with gloss-black detailing and badging all round. The Epiq Sportline is also the only Epiq model that gets a contrasting black roof, and you can have special 19-inch or 20-inchalloy wheels.
Are there any mechanical changes?
No, the Epiq Sportline gets visual changes only, so it will drive just the same as a standard model, which is no bad thing based on our recent first drive — which you can read here.
What about the range of the Skoda Epiq Sportline?
The Sportline will be available in either Epiq 40 or Epiq 55 forms. In the 40, that means a 37kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a 136hp electric motor producing 267Nm of torque and an official range of up to 310km. That one can be recharged from 10 to 80 per cent in as little as 23 minutes.
The Epiq 55 Sportline will come with a 52kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery and has a 210hp electric motor with 290Nm of torque and an official range of up to 440km. That 55 version can also hit 100km/h in a brisk 7.1 seconds and charges from 10 to 80 per cent in 24 minutes using DC charging. Both models are limited to a top speed of 160km/h.
Any changes inside?
The Sportline versions of the Epiq get a new black-themed interior, with soft ‘Suedia’ man-made suede inserts for the seats, armrests, door panels and dashboard trim. There’s also a three-spoke steering wheel with paddles behind it that allow you to adjust brake energy recuperation. Sportline models also get ambient cabin lighting, 15-watt wireless smartphone charging and illuminated door sills.
Anything else we should know about the Skoda Epiq Sportline?
The Epiq Sportline also gets a new ‘Light Band’ illuminated grille, as well as the Convenience and Tech equipment packages and the Light & View package as standard. That means you’ll get a heated steering wheel and front seats, dual-zone Climatronic automatic air-conditioning, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and privacy glass from the B-pillar rearwards, along with front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry, a digital key for your phone, a rear-view camera and LED matrix headlights.
