When is this taking place? And where?
The Cannonball Overland 4x4 Adventure will take place from 13-15 November and will start at The Lakeside Hotel in Killaloe, Co. Clare.
It will then travel along the limestone landscape of the Burren, towards Fanore, Doolin, the Cliffs of Moher coastal route, Bridge of Ross and will finish day one at Loop Head Lighthouse.
Lunch will be at The Armada, on Spanish Point, and then an overnight stay at Bunratty Castle Hotel. On day two, there’s more driving past Quilty Beach and up Corkscrew Hill, with lunch at Vaughan’s of Kilfenora before returning to Bunratty Castle Hotel.
How many cars are taking part?
Cannonball expects 70 high-end 4x4s to take part in the Overland 4x4 Adventure, including Land Rover Defenders and Ford Raptors as well as Bentley Bentaygas and Lamborghini Urus.
A Tesla Tank (which we think is more to do with video games than Tesla the car company…) will be on display throughout the weekend.
Is this for charity?
Yes, it is. As with the bigger Cannonball events, Cannonball Overland 4x4 Adventure will be raising money for the Ronald McDonald House charity.
When a child is seriously ill and receiving hospital treatment far from home, Ronald McDonald House provides families with accommodation, care and support close to their child for as long as they need it.
Since opening in Ireland in November 2004, the charity has supported more than 5,400 families. Up to the start of this year, Cannonball had raised over €2.3 million for Irish children’s charities.
Can I enter?
Yes, you can. Entry costs €2,100 per car, with a €500 deposit required. Cannonball says that the dress code is ‘country manor style’ so break out your tweed, waxed jackets, flat caps and Hunter wellies.
