Polestar previews its future with the Formula 2030 Concept car

Does it look radically different to existing Polestars?

Well, that’s a little hard to tell as it’s a dark car in a dark photo. At first, what you notice is the split L-shaped headlights, which Polestar calls its ‘Dual Blade’ look and have already become a Polestar calling card, so it looks pretty familiar. However, the more you look, the more you see a muscular and sculpted body shape, including a race-car-style open front duct in the bonnet, and heavily ‘castellated’ sections in the outer bonnet. Who designed the Formula 2030 Concept?

The man behind this design is Polestar’s recently arrived head of design, Philipp Römers. He said: “Polestar’s design and brand is already so strong, it was obvious we needed a bold evolution not revolution of what came before. Formula 2030 delivers this, showcasing our future while respecting brand-defining elements like the familiar ‘Dual Blade’ headlights ensuring it remains recognisably a Polestar with a strong, characterful identity.” The idea, said Römers, is that the Formula 2030 concept represents: “a bold evolution of the already established Scandinavian form language, moving exterior and interior design, material innovation and sustainability onto the next chapter.”

When do we get to see the rest of the Polestar Formula 2030 Concept car?

Pretty soon, we’d expect. The Formula 2030 Concept will be shown off first to Polestar’s investors and senior staff at an event in the company’s Gothenburg HQ in Sweden, and apparently the rest of us mere mortals will get a first chance to see it as part of the launch event for the upcoming Polestar 4 SUV, which is in mid-October.
