Go on then, how far is far?
Well, according to Nissan, far is very far indeed. Nissan has just set a new, and official, Guinness World Record for the longest distance covered by a non-plug-in extended-range vehicle, using a Qashqai e-Power.

OK, enough teasing. The Qashqai e-Power, which I'll remind you is powered entirely by its electric motor, with the 1.5-litre petrol engine only on board to provide generator power to keep the small battery topped up [Get on with it! Ed.], travelled for a massive 1,980km on a single tank of fuel.
Was this record set in laboratory conditions?
Absolutely not. In fact, Nissan chose some properly tricky roads, driving through Colombia from the capital city, Bogota, to the Caribbean coast, taking in pretty much every sort of driving scenario possible, from snarled-up city traffic to open, sweeping coastal roads, and all in high temperatures and humidity.
