Following the Renault 4's award as the Autobest Best Buy Car of Europe 2026, the trophy was presented during an official ceremony at the French Open Tennis Championships at Roland Garros in Paris, for which Renault is a premium partner.
The Renault 4 is the first winner of the newly-launched Autobest Conquest, which introduced a public voting element to the award alongside the votes of the Autobest jury, which includes Complete Car's Dave Humphreys.
Upon accepting the award, Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of Renault and Chief Growth Officer for Renault Group, said: "This recognition is particularly meaningful as it reflects both the judgment of automotive experts and the choice of the public. It is a great acknowledgement of the many strengths of Renault 4 E-Tech electric: an electric vehicle designed to meet the needs of everyday life, combining versatility, practicality, connectivity and an emotional design inspired by an iconic model. A modern and accessible vehicle that is already winning over customers, becoming the number one electric B-SUV in France in a segment that is only just beginning its transition to electrification.
"This award is also a tribute to the passion and commitment of all Renault teams who brought this project to life. And the story is only just beginning, new versions will soon enrich the range, including the Plein Sud version with its canvas roof, as Renault 4 continues its journey to make electric mobility ever more desirable and accessible”.
Renault also had its newly revealed Renault 4 JP4x4 design concept on display at the event. This playful buggy is based on the Renault 4 and was influenced by the original Renault 4 JP4. With no proper doors, it's perhaps not ideal for the Irish climate, but it would be the perfect companion for zipping down to the beach in the south of France. Its vibrant interior is a nod to the orange-brown clay courts of Roland Garros.
