Porsche is expanding its electric lineup with a second model for the new Cayenne Electric range; this is the Cayenne Electric S, which gets a two-motor, four-wheel-drive setup that develops a an impressive 544hp... until you activate launch control, upon which, an unholy 666hp is unleashed.
Satanic. How fast is this Cayenne S?
Well, that's enough power to push this big, heavy Cayenne Electric S to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Who needs the Turbo model, eh?

And while its official power output might be a bit devilish, its range is positively saintly - Porsche quotes a 653km range on one charge of the Cayenne Electric S's 113kWh battery. That battery can then be recharged at up to 400kW, from 10-80 per cent in just 16 minutes, which is almost as fast as the 0-100km/h, in a manner of speaking.
What else is new about the Cayenne Electric S?
It gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor on each axle, and the motor at the rear is oil-cooled to ensure maximum performance as much of the time as possible. There's also silicon carbide as a semi-conductor material for the high-voltage parts.
Does the Cayenne Electric S look different?

Yes, there are version-specific bumper sections front and rear, finished in Volcano Grey Metallic, and as standard there are 20-inch 'Cayenne Aero' alloy wheels.
Any mechanical updates?
There's optional Porsche Torque Vectoring to shunt all that power to an individual wheel when needed, as well as the option of Porsche Active Ride, which can keep the body eerily level even when cornering hard. And, of course, if you pay extra, you can have the mighty PCCB ceramic braking system, with the yellow-painted callipers.

For the ultimate in on-demand performance, there's the 'Push To Pass function' included with the Sport Chrono pack, which unleashes an extra 122hp for a ten-second burst when you need it. There's also a Track mode, but are you really going to bring a Cayenne Electric S to the track?
What other options are there?
Well, Porsche is offering a series of 'Exclusive Manufaktur' curated options pack, based around the 13 colour options for the Cayenne Electric S.

One of those is the distinctive Mystic Green Metallic paint, which comes with two-tone leather upholstery in Black and Delgada Green, with colour-coded seatbelts. There's Delgada Green stitching for everything too, including the Porsche logo embroidered into the headrests.
Then there are 'Izabel Green' aluminium inserts, a GT-spec steering wheel with Delgada Green stitching and a 12-o'clock marker, plus Izabel Green for the steering wheel trim and a knurled metal Drive Select switch.
On top of all that, the dial of the compass, the Sports Chrono stopwatch and the power meter in the instrument cluster all incorporate the Izabal Green accents, and the car's key does too.

The look is rounded off with black anodised aluminium door sill guards with the model designation illuminated in green, as well as black floor mats with decorative edging, emblems and stitching.
When can I have one?

Order books are open now, and the Irish price tag for the Cayenne Electric S is €136,730.
