Back in December 2025, Tesla introduced a cut-price version of the Model Y electric SUV called the Model Y Standard, which is priced from €42,990 in Ireland, and has a one-charge range of 505km on the WLTP cycle. Now, Tesla has introduced a 'Long Range' version of this model. The new variant is priced from €46,990 and has a range of 616km under WLTP conditions.
Tell us about this Model Y's battery and charging
The Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (to use its official title) has peak DC-charging rated at up to 250kW - and of course, you still get access to Tesla's Supercharger network. Tesla quotes 13.6kWh/100km energy consumption, meaning a 15-minute charge can in theory add up to 278km of extra range, subject to charger output and conditions of course.
Does it come with the usual Tesla technology?
As with other Teslas, this Model Y includes over-the-air software updates, Trip Planner with real-time Supercharger availability, Phone Key, Remote Climate Control, Sentry Mode and Dog Mode. Autopilot is standard, and the hardware is ready for the so-called Full Self-Driving (Supervised) system, which Tesla says will be enabled remotely on applicable vehicles if regulators approve it.
This model also comes on 19-inch 'Crossflow' wheels.
Orders books are open and Irish deliveries are scheduled to begin next month.
