Nissan Ireland has announced that the new Leaf, which goes on sale at the end of this month, will have a starting price of €34,995.
I presume that's not for the version with the biggest battery?

Correct, as the entry-level Leaf, in Engage spec, comes with a 52kWh battery, giving you a potential range of up to 440km. As standard, you get flush-fit door handles, Google-based infotainment for the big touchscreen and a host of safety features, including Intelligent Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Warning.
Other standard kit includes 18-inch alloy wheels, two-zone climate control, wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play, adaptive cruise control and a 3D surround-view parking camera.
Decent kit. What about the other trims?
You can upgrade to Engage+, still with the 52kWh battery, for €36,495, and for that you get auto high-beam lights, a heat pump for the climate control, two-tone alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel and front seats, bigger screens and wireless phone charging.
For €39,795, there's Advance spec, which comes with synthetic leather upholstery, ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof, privacy glass, roof rails, upgraded LED headlights and brake lights, a powered tailgate and a head-up display.
Finally, for Evolve, the top spec for the new Leaf, you'll pay €41,295 for the 52kWh battery model, and you'll get heated, massaging and electrically adjusted front seats, vehicle-to-load charging, an auto close tailgate, a Bose stereo with subwoofer and keyless entry.
What if you want the bigger battery?

The larger of the Leaf's two battery options has a capacity of 75kWh, and comes with a heat pump as standard on all trims. It has a potential maximum range of 622km, and Nissan claims that at a 130km/h motorway speed, you can stretch that range to 330km without needing to recharge.
Prices for the 75kWh battery start are €39,995 in Engage spec; €41,495 in Engage+ spec; €45,795 in Advance spec; and €48,295 in Evolve spec.
What colour options are available?
The new Leaf comes with four standard colours - Fuji Sunset Red, Pearl White, Pearl Black and Dark Grey, all of which can be optionally had with a contrast black roof. Then there's Universal Blue and Luminous Teal, both of which are reserved for higher-spec Advance and Evolve models only.
What else do I need to know?

The new Leaf has fast charging - at up to 150kW (it's 105kW for the smaller battery) - allowing you to recharge it at up to 420km in just 30 minutes of charging. The WLTP efficiency figure is an impressive 13.8kWh/100km.
"The all-new Leaf is set to attract a whole new generation of EV drivers. This is the EV they have been waiting for. Its sleek new crossover look and design, extended range and connected technology is going to be a massive hit with anyone thinking of buying a new EV,” said Seamus Morgan, Managing Director of Nissan Ireland. "There was phenomenal interest in this car when local dealers treated customers to a sneak peek at it last month. It is due to arrive in dealerships in March and we are currently taking pre-orders and test drive bookings.”
When can I have one?
Right away, basically. Order books are open now, and the first cars will physically arrive in Ireland in the next few weeks.
