Polestar Ireland has announced the prices for the Polestar 5 electric super-saloon, which will arrive in Ireland early next year. And be sold here. By Polestar. In Ireland.

You said 'Polestar' and 'Ireland' too many times, there

Yes, possibly. Blame the excitement over the arrival of the Polestar 5, which is, no lie, one of the most exciting cars of 2026. All-electric, up to a 678km range, and up to 884hp.

How much is it going to cost?

The Dual Motor Launch Edition of the Polestar 5 will have a starting price of €130,700 when it arrives in Ireland early next year. That version will have a fairly massive 758hp twin-motor drivetrain, with four-wheel drive, a 112kWh battery, and a WLTP range of up to 678km on one charge. You'll be able to charge it at up to 350kW on DC power, and there's a huge set of safety systems (well, Polestar is related to Volvo…), including 11 cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors.

That's not the quick one, though, is it?

No, it's not. You'd think that the Dual Motor's 3.8-second 0-100km/h time would be sufficient, but there's also the Polestar 5 Performance, with a massive 884hp, 1,015Nm of torque, and a 0-100km/h time of 3.1 seconds. That one has a range of 558km, and will cost you €145,700.

What else do we know about the Polestar 5?

We know it gets a bespoke, ultra-stiff chassis, made mostly from aluminium, and that it has luxurious '4+1' seating (basically, that means a really narrow centre rear seat). It's designed to compete with the likes of the Porsche Taycan in the performance and handling stakes, but also to be a rival to the likes of the Mercedes EQS and the BMW i7 in terms of luxury and tech. It also looks really cool, much more sucked-down-to-the-road than Polestar's more SUV-oriented models.

Jordan Killen, Polestar Ireland Brand Director, says: "We are excited to launch our flagship model, Polestar 5, early next year and look forward to welcoming customers to Polestar Dublin in Sandyford when it will be available to test drive. In the meantime, we're pleased to announce pricing for this innovative new addition to the Polestar collection and we invite customers to configure their Polestar 5 online at polestar.com/ie.”
