Mazda is introducing a model year update for both its CX-60 and CX-80 SUVs, due to go on sale in the spring of 2026.

What kind of update?

This isn't a big facelift; rather, it's part of Mazda's general philosophy of making regular, incremental improvements to its models. The first of the updates is that the 3.3-litre straight-six diesel engine that's available in both the CX-60 and CX-80 now meets the latest Euro6e-bis emission standard, and it's now also compatible with HVO (Hydro-treated Vegetable Oil) diesel replacement fuel, which, in theory, is up to 90 per cent lower in carbon emissions than regular diesel.

What other changes have been made?

Both the CX-60 and CX-80 now also come with a new Driver Emergency Assistance system, which, according to Mazda, "detects sudden medical emergencies, takes control, slows the vehicle, and brings it to a safe stop. Once stationary it automatically unlocks the doors to allow emergency responders quick access.”

There's a new interior colour scheme too, with both Homura and Homura Plus models now getting the option of tan upholstery, with quilted Nappa leather seats, a two-tone steering wheel, and a suede-style material for the dashboard. Refinement is also improved, thanks to noise-insulating glass for the front doors.

There's also a new 20-inch alloy wheel option, which is fitted to the Exclusive-Line versions and finished in Metallic Silver on the CX-60 and Bright Silver on the CX-80.

Anything else?

Yes, the driver monitoring system is now standard-fit for the CX-60, and new safety options such as Cruising & Traffic Support with Unresponsive Driver Support and Smart Brake Support with Rear Crossing Alert are also now available. Amazon Alexa voice control is now also included, while the CX-60 now gets an upgraded navigation system, which includes alternative route calculations, point-of-interest search, and seven years of free map updates. There is also a new paint option, as Polymetal Grey metallic paint replaces the previous Sonic Silver finish.
