Leapmotor has made its IAA Mobility debut in Munich with the global unveiling of the B05 electric hatchback and the European market launch of the B10 electric SUV. Both models mark a major expansion for the Chinese electric vehicle brand, which has only just hit the Irish market.

What is the Leapmotor B05?

The Leapmotor B05 is a C-segment hatch measuring 4,430mm long and 1,880mm wide (Leapmotor claims this is the "the broadest in its segment"), and sitting on a 2,735mm wheelbase. It has frameless doors and 19-inch alloy wheels.

While full technical specifications have not yet been released, the B05 is positioned within the Leapmotor line-up as a smaller, urban-focused model with a design that blends sporty cues and compact practicality. Both the B05 and B10 are built on Leapmotor's new 'LEAP3.5' platform.

How does the Leapmotor B10 compare?

The B10 is a compact SUV measuring 4,515mm long, 1,885mm wide and 1,655mm tall. It has the same 2,735mm wheelbase as the B05 but is bigger inside, including 1,400mm of rear shoulder width and over 1,000mm of headroom in both the front and rear seats.

The B10 gets a 14.6-inch floating touchscreen with Snapdragon 8155 processing power, along with over-the-air software updates and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Two battery sizes are available. The base 56.2kWh version delivers a WLTP range of up to 361km, while the larger 67.1kWh battery increases this to 434km. Charging capacity is rated at up to 11kW on AC and 168kW on DC, allowing a 30-80 per cent charge in under 20 minutes. The B10's electric motor produces up to 218hp and 240Nm of torque, with a 0-100km/h time of eight seconds.

What are the trim options and features?

The B10 is offered in two trim levels: Life and Design. The Life specification includes an electric sunroof, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 360-degree camera system and a full suite of driver assistance technologies. Higher-grade Design models add ambient lighting, along with heated, ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats upholstered in synthetic leather.

When will these models come to Ireland?

While it has been confirmed that the Leapmotor brand will officially launch in Ireland this autumn, distributed by Gowan Auto, there is no news yet on when the B05 and B10 will be introduced to the Irish market.
