Cupra’s new concept car is called the Tindaya

We've known for a while that Cupra is going to have a new concept car for the upcoming Munich motor show (technically, the IAA Mobility show in Munich), and now we know the car's name — it's Tindaya.

Isn't she the one from Dune?

No, you're thinking of Zendaya, the actress. This is Tindaya, a volcanic mountain that rises from the island of Fuerteventura, in the Atlantic Ocean. Cupra says that the mountain's rocks have a distinctive copper colour, and that's Cupra's signature look, so it all comes together rather nicely. Quite, apart from the volcanic power thing.

Will the Tindaya be lava-hot?

It may well be. We don't actually know that much about the Tindaya concept yet, other than this single image that seems to show a carbon-fibre weave with copper-coloured highlights, and minimalist, almost skeletal, brake lights.

What we do know is that the Tindaya isn't headed for production per se (although you can probably expect to see the name being used on a production model at some point), but instead it's meant to give us a preview of what the next generation of Cupras are going to look like.

According to Cupra, the Tindaya: “embraces its namesake's dramatic character, with an exterior and interior design that comes alive with a radical yet simple idea: "No Drivers, No CUPRA”. A showcar that delivers the maximum expression of driver focus, while offering a unique experience, enhancing the driver's emotions.”

When can I find out more?

The Munich motor show kicks off on the 9th of September, and we'll have full reports on the Cupra Tindaya and the rest of the show debutantes right here on CompleteCar.ie.
