Kia Ireland sponsors Big Beach Clean 2025

Kia Ireland has confirmed it will again sponsor the Big Beach Clean, which takes place from 19 to 21 September 2025. The annual clean-up event, organised by Clean Coasts, is part of the International Coastal Cleanup and aims to remove litter from Ireland's beaches and inland waterways.

Last year, more than 15,000 people took part in over 600 local clean-ups, collecting around 95 tonnes of litter from the country's coasts and rivers. Organisers are hoping for an even larger turnout this year. Registration is now open on cleancoasts.org for individuals or groups who want to take part.

The clean-up marks the end of the bathing season and focuses on gathering data as well as collecting waste. All litter collected during the event is recorded and the findings are shared internationally as part of a global citizen science project. The aim is to raise awareness about marine pollution and inform future environmental policy.

Kia Ireland's involvement means clean-up kits will be distributed to registered participants. The company says it supports environmental projects as part of its wider plans to reduce its environmental impact. This includes using recycled plastics - some of which are recovered from ocean waste - in the production of electric vehicles. Kia is also a global supporter of The Ocean Cleanup, an initiative that removes plastic from the world's oceans.

Bronagh Moore, Clean Coasts Manager with An Taisce, said that the clean-up data helps drive meaningful change. She encouraged people across the country to get involved and contribute to protecting Ireland's marine environment.

The Big Beach Clean has become a key fixture in Ireland's environmental calendar and continues to grow in scale and impact each year.
