Having already released updated versions of the regular Enyaq, Skoda has now revealed its range-topping, high-performance models, the Enyaq RS and Enyaq Coupe RS. Both use the same dual-motor electric powertrain and a 340hp peak output.

What's different about the new Skoda Enyaq RS?

The exterior of this Skoda gets RS treatment to set it apart from the other Enyaq models. As standard it rides on black 20-inch 'Draconis' alloy wheels, but buyers can choose to upgrade these to anthracite-metallic 21-inch 'Vision' rims. The wheel designs include plastic covers that slot into the rim, which not only give it a distinctive appearance, but also help to improve the car's aerodynamic performance as it cuts through the air, thus contributing to a longer driving range.

As we've already seen on the updated Skoda Enyaq, both the SUV and Coupe models wear a new front-end design that Skoda calls its 'Tech Deck' face. A thin black visor links the LED Matrix headlights and includes 131 individual light elements - the same number as featured in the 'Crystal Face' illuminated grille when the Enyaq was first launched. LED Matrix headlights are standard now and include animations when the car is locked or unlocked.

Similar to the Sportline specification, the Enyaq RS models get contrasting high-gloss black exterior accents. These include double strakes on the corners of the front bumper where the air curtain is located, along with back for the door mirrors, roof rails and window frames. At the rear there is a full-width reflector strip - a signature of Skoda RS models - and a roof spoiler on the Enyaq SUV. All of the car's badging is finished in the same gloss black colour. Meanwhile, Mamba Green is an exclusive colour for the Enyaq RS models, though more subtle colours are available.

Is the Enyaq RS interior any different?

Skoda's designers have created two interior specifications for the Enyaq RS, called RS Lounge and RS Suite. The interior of the RS Lounge has more of a motorsport feel with seats that are covered in a blend of black Suedia microfibre and artificial leather with lime green stitching. That Suedia material also extends to the doors and some of the dashboard.

If you think caring for the Suedia material might be a bit of a chore, the RS Suite uses a combination of leather and artificial leather with grey stitching. It's a bit more subtle to look at and gives the Enyaq's cabin a slightly different look and feel.

Whichever version you choose, the Enyaq RS still comes with a five-inch digital instrument display and a 13-inch infotainment touchscreen. An optional 'Advanced' package includes a large head-up display that uses augmented reality for a more immersive experience. Heated front seats, stainless steel pedal covers and dashboard inserts that carry a carbon-fibre appearance are all standard. The three-spoke multifunction steering wheel is also heated.

Talk to me about performance

The Enyaq RS and Enyaq Coupe RS share identical powertrains with a dual-motor setup that produces maximum outputs of 340hp and 550Nm. Both can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 5.4 seconds.

The chassis is lowered by 15mm at the front axle and 10mm at the rear to enhance handling and provide a more agile setup. An optional DCC adaptive chassis setup is also available, which reverts to the car's standard ride height, but compensates by providing a different suspension setup that includes 15-stage damper settings.

Does the Enyaq RS get a longer range?

Both the Enyaq RS and Enyaq Coupe RS get the company's latest 79kWh (that's the usable capacity) battery. For the Enyaq RS the WLTP range is 560 kilometres, while the slightly more aerodynamic Enyaq Coupe RS achieves a 570-kilometre range on the official economy test.

What's the charging speed like?

Skoda equips both cars with 11kW AC charging as standard and a full charge from empty to full takes 8 hours 30 minutes. The RS versions get a peak DC-charging rate of 185kW, so topping up the battery from 10 to 80 per cent charge takes as little as 26 minutes in optimum conditions. That peak DC charge rate makes these the fastest charging Skoda models alongside the smaller Skoda Elroq RS.

How much will it cost in Ireland?

Irish pricing for the Enyaq RS and Enyaq Coupe RS has not yet been confirmed, but these will be the most expensive cars in the Enyaq lineup. Currently, the most expensive models are the Enyaq 85X Sportline at €54,250 and Enyaq 85 Sportline at €55,250.
