Updated Volvo S40 and V50 are here

Volvo release revised specification and pricing for the 2011 model year Volvo S40 and V50.

Volvo has released specification changes to their mid-sized saloon and estate ranges, the S40 and V50. For the 2011 model year the SE Lux trim versions will be priced the same as the SE trim models. Standard equipment now includes a dashboard Information Centre, floor mats and the passenger airbag cut off switch across both ranges.

For 2011 the SE Lux specification gains active xenon lights with a headlight cleaning system and power folding mirrors with 'puddle' lights in addition to the equipment level of the SE trim model. Prices for two popular options, heated front seats and rear park assist, have been reduced by 50 percent to €250 each.

Volvo has also decided to re-badge its cars with a prefix of D for diesel or T for petrol. The numbering format will follow the existing principle of Volvo's car nomenclature, the higher the number the larger the power output. Engines with a similar power output will have the same number, whether petrol or diesel. The 1.6 diesel, now the D2, has an increase in power from 109- to 115hp and CO2 emissions of 114g/km. The 2.0 diesel, now called the D3, puts out 150hp (up from 136hp) and CO2 of 134g/km. Both engines come with a six speed manual transmission as standard.

The 2011 model year S40 and V50 ranges will be available from the end of June.
