Japfest returns to Mondello Park this weekend

Japfest, Ireland's largest JDM car show, takes place in Mondello Park on 28 April.

Japfest, Ireland's largest Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) car show, is happening early this year. It will move from its usual October slot to 28 April at Mondello Park. As ever, it showcases a wide array of modified Japanese cars.

The 2024 edition of Japfest will introduce new themed car areas and continue the JDM-inspired theme. More than 400 vehicles will be on display, showing off the best in modified Japanese automotive engineering.

Irish Drift Championship kicks off

In addition to the car displays, the event will host the 2024 Irish Drift Championship opening round, celebrating its 20th anniversary. This year's championship promises to be fiercely competitive, with talented drivers vying for an early lead in the season. Past champions include James Deane and the Shanahan brothers, Jack and Conor, who have made significant marks on the international drift scene.

Roddy Greene, Managing Director at Mondello Park, expressed excitement, saying: "It's great to have the IDC championship returning to Mondello Park; over the years it has been won by drivers who have gone on to dominate the international drift scene both in Europe and the US."

Dave Egan and Josh Holdworth from Drift Games will also take part in the first round. Their participation comes after a massive setback when a fire devastated their headquarters earlier this month. Dave Egan will drive James Deane's 1,000hp ‘Eurofighter’, while Josh Holdworth will compete in the pro-class championship.

Japfest 2024 will also offer trade stands and food stalls, ensuring that there is a diverse range of experiences for everyone to enjoy.
