BMW preparing for winter

BMW Ireland launches range of winter tyres and a driver training course.

With the country having effectively ground to a standstill over the past two winters this announcement from BMW should offer some respite for those fearing the worst this year.

Winter tyres are the hot topic in the motor industry and BMW is again rolling out its Winter Tyre programme for customers. Winter tyres give maximum levels of grip during not only snow and ice but also in cold, wet weather making them particularly relevant to Irish winters. The package, which starts from €945, also includes either steel or alloy winter wheels that are available in a number of styles and sizes. BMW will also store and insure your summer wheels for you ready to be fitted back on to your car come spring time.

A Winter Driving Training Programme is also being offered by BMW. Organised in conjunction with Monaghan based Rally School Ireland the half day course aims to give drivers the ability to deal with driving in slippery conditions, skid recovery, understeer and oversteer as well as exercises in evasive action, emergency lane changes and making the most of safety features like traction control.
