Nissan introduces a cheaper Ariya

New Nissan Ariya Engage model costs from €43,500.

As with many electric car makers, Nissan is rolling out more affordable versions of its battery-powered models. Following hot on the heels of the €5,000 price cut for the Nissan Leaf comes this, the Ariya Engage, which has a more affordable starting price of €43,500.

Better stock levels for 2024

Nissan Ireland is, ever so slightly, apologising for not getting hold of all that many Ariyas since the model launched, although it's something of a humblebrag as the company points out that the shortage was due to the huge global success for the car.

For 2024, Nissan Ireland has said that it has secured good stock levels, and is introducing this more affordable Engage model.

404km range

The Ariya Engage comes with the smaller of the car's two batteries, a 63kWh unit offering a range of up to 404km.

While the Engage's €43,500 starting price looks tempting, there's also the Advance or Evolve grades which allows buyers to choose from two battery options, the 63kWh unit or the bigger 87kWh battery which offers a range of up to 532 kilometres.

The 63kWh Advance grade starts at €45,849, while the higher spec Evolve grade with the same battery starts at €48,349. Pricing for the larger 87kWh battery in the Advance grade starts at €54,100 and at €56,300 in the Evolve grade. All prices are inclusive of government grants.

Premium feel

"We are delighted to secure stock of this much sought after car for 2024. Our pricing is extremely competitive for a family car of this quality. The first thing that you notice when you sit into the Nissan Ariya is its premium feel and spacious interior. The arrival of the Engage grade allows drivers to step up and switch into a more luxurious EV without compromise," said Seamus Morgan, Managing Director of Nissan Ireland.

"The Nissan Ariya Engage also makes it less expensive to drive an EV. The entry price of €43,500 is on a par, or less than the cost of buying the same sized petrol or diesel car. This makes transitioning to zero emissions driving even more attractive and Nissan will continue to lead the way in helping motorists to make that change and to play their part in helping Ireland to meet its climate change targets," he added.

Standard equipment for the Engage model includes wireless Apple CarPlay and cabled Android Auto. Standard safety features include Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Driver Alertness, Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent Lane Intervention, Blind Spot Warning and Blind Spot Intervention, and Rear Emergency Braking and Cross Traffic Alert technology. There's also Nissan's e-Pedal technology which allows drivers to accelerate and decelerate using only the accelerator.
