Volkswagen shows ID.7 Tourer estate

Volkswagen shows ID.7 Tourer estate
VW ID.7 Tourer brings estate practicality to the electric world.

This - still disguised - is the Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer, and it's, fairly obviously, an estate version of the ID.7 saloon. The four-door is due on sale in Ireland early in 2024. The estate, we'll have to wait a bit longer for, but it will be a 2024 model.

It will also be very sleek. While the ID.7 Tourer doesn't have quite as low a drag coefficient as the ID.7 saloon, it's still an impressive one with a figure of 0.24 - compared to the four-door's 0.23. That aero is aided by some neat lip spoilers, and flush-fit doorhandles.

545-litre boot

It'll be practical too, with a boot volume of up to 545 litres before you fold down the back seats. Do that and there's 1,714 litres of space to play with, and a load length of almost two metres.

Volkswagen isn't talking about range figures for the ID.7 Tourer as yet, but it seems safe to assume that it should come close to matching the official 701km range for the big-battery 86kWh version of the saloon, and 616km for the 77kWh model. The batteries can be charged at up to 200kW from a DC fast charging point.

QR codes

Outside, the ID.7 Tourer prototype shown here has been camouflage-wrapped in a scheme that's meant to represent an 'Indian Summer' and like the multi-coloured camouflage wrap of the saloon earlier this year there are QR codes embedded into the wrap which will lead viewers to more information about the car.
