New GS and fancy CT from Lexus

While the new GS debuts in Frankfurt, it'll be joined by a sportier version of the CT 200h.

Lexus will pull the wraps off the CT 200h F-Sport and GS 450h at Frankfurt - both of which are firsts for Europe.

The F-Sport is essentially a warmed-up version of the standard CT 200h. There's no mention of any upgrades under the bonnet, but Lexus says it has made handling adjustments.

An ultramarine paint job and styling tweaks including multi-spoke, gunmetal grey alloy wheels and body kit are also on the cards.

Recently unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California, the GS 450h marks a big step up from its predecessor. Cleaner, edgier styling replaces the previous model's soft lines, and Ireland is also set to get a less powerful GS 250h model with lower emissions.

The engine in the flagship GS 450h will be a 3.5-litre V6 unit, linked to an electric motor. Power outputs, performance and economy figures have yet to be announced but suffice to say, they'll be lower and higher than the outgoing car where it counts.

There are also rumours of a flagship 'F' version, but this is likely to be more of a styling pack rather than a high performance variant like the Lexus IS F.
