Volvo introduces stop-start to its automatic models

Stop-start means lower tax for Volvo buyers.

Volvo has introduced stop-start to some of its cars with automatic transmission. The new stop-start system, which initially is available in the 2.0-litre D3 turbodiesel model, cuts CO2 emissions by 10g/km.

The new system arrives in Ireland in September and the six-speed automatic gearbox with stop-start becomes available in the D3 versions of the four Volvo models: S60, V60, V70 and S80. The benefit of the new technology is that most automatic versions will drop down a tax band, from Band D to Band C, down from €447 to €302 per year.
