Porsche has revealed the new 911 Carrera T coupe - with a manual gearbox.

The 992-generation Porsche 911 can now be ordered in driver-focused Carrera T specification, sitting between the entry-level 911 Carrera and the 911 Carrera S in terms of pricing and equipment, with a manual gearbox as standard and a lower kerb weight. Irish prices start at €191,080.

Carrera engine with manual gearbox

Under the rear end of the 911 Carrera T is the same twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre flat-six petrol engine that powers the cheapest Porsche 911. Cheap is hardly the right word for such a car, and emphasising that, the boxer unit makes up to 385hp and 450Nm of torque. The regular Carrera can't be specified with a manual gearbox at all, however, while the Carrera T comes with a seven-speed manual unit as standard, featuring a mechanical limited slip differential for the rear wheels. Porsche quotes a 0-100km/h time of 4.5 seconds. The T also gets a sports exhaust system.

Unique chassis specification

As standard, the 911 Carrera T is also fitted with the Sport Chrono package and PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management - or adaptive damping to you and me) sports suspension with a 10mm reduction in the ride height. Buyers can additionally pay for rear-axle steering, something that is not offered on the entry 911 Carrera.

Grey 'Carrera S' alloy wheels are included, 20-inch rims up front (on 245/35 tyres) and 21-inch rims at the back (305/30 tyres).

Carrera T appearance

The grey accent theme is continued on the exterior of the 911 Carrera T to distinguish it from other models. 'Agate Grey' is used on the door mirrors and decals, as well as on the rear grille and logos, while a subtle grey top tint has been applied to the windscreen. Meanwhile, the outlets of the sports exhaust system are finished in high-gloss black.

Four solid paint colours are offered - Black, White, Guards Red and Racing Yellow - while Deep Black, Gentian Blue, Ice Grey and GT Silver are the metallic options. That's assuming the buyer isn't tempted by the 110-colour 'Paint to Sample' programme.

Minimised cabin - depending on options

The 911 Carrera T is 35kg lighter than the normal PDK-equipped 911 Carrera, thanks in part to the lighter transmission, but also due to reduced sound insulation, lightweight glass, a lighter battery and the removal of the rear seats.

Up front, there are Sports Seats Plus fitted, with electric four-way adjustment, plus extra decorative trim in a combination of matte black and high-gloss black.

Buyers opting for the Carrera T interior package can have a contrasting colour of Slate Grey or Lizard Green for the seat belts, decorative stitching, the 911 logo on the headrests and stripes on the seat centres. That package can be enhanced further with the 'extended leather interior' option.
