Toyota Ireland has announced the introduction of a new "service activated" 12-month warranty for all Toyota cars and light commercials less than 10 years old, regardless of whether the vehicle was bought at a Toyota dealer or not.
The service, known as Toyota Relax, means that any owner of a Toyota passenger car, van or pickup less than ten years old or with less than 185,000km on the clock will receive an extra year of warranty coverage if they take their vehicle to be serviced at a Toyota dealership.
Applies to imports too
"We are delighted to be able to offer this brilliant 12-month warranty to our service customers," said Toyota Ireland's aftersales director, Paul Murray.
"With Toyota Relax, all Toyota drivers who use our network for their servicing needs can relax in the knowledge that they have another year's peace of mind as their car is covered with a warranty. And they can enjoy this peace of mind year after year as each service triggers an additional 12-month warranty.
"Typically, 'special offers' from car companies are full of very limiting exclusions and eligibility criteria, but Toyota Relax is different. For example, all Toyota used car imports from the UK and Europe are eligible for Toyota Relax, and you don't have to be an existing Toyota customer to avail of the additional warranty."
Warranty is transferrable
The additional warranty covers defects to the car that arise within one year or 15,000km of the vehicle's service date, though for vehicles such as the Toyota Supra and Proace with longer service intervals, that mileage limit extends to 20,000km. The warranty cover is transferable to a new owner if the car is sold within the duration of the 12 months.
At present, Toyota offers a three-year warranty (or 100,000km, whichever comes first) on all its vehicles, with a five-year/100,000km warranty on hybrid components.
