Porsche has revealed the Cayenne Platinum Edition featuring styling upgrades and extra equipment.

Porsche has announced a new special edition of its Cayenne SUV featuring a range of styling tweaks as well as extra equipment as standard.

Satin finish

Adorning the Cayenne Platinum Edition are a range of exterior design elements finished in a satin-finish platinum colour, including the inlays in the front air intake slats, the Porsche lettering integrated into the LED rear light strip, the badging at the rear and the 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels (exclusive to Platinum models). As well as that, the exhaust tailpipes and side window trims are finished in black to give the Platinum Edition Cayenne a sportier, more purposeful look.

Colour options for the main body panels include solids such as black and white, in addition to the metallic shades Jet Black, Carrara White, Mahogany, Moonlight Blue and the special colour, Crayon, a sort of pale grey.

Extra equipment

Inside, the seats are that Crayon colour and the door sills feature "Platinum Edition" lettering as well as being finished in brushed aluminium, a design cue that asserts itself throughout the cabin in the form of textured aluminium and silver-coloured trims.

It's not just a visual upgrade though; extra equipment as standard over other Cayenne models includes eight-way electrically adjustable seats with the Porsche crest embossed into the leather of the head rests, a Bose surround sound audio system, an analogue clock, panoramic roof, privacy glass and LED headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System. This latter feature adjusts the range of the light beam according to driving speed as well as pointing the beam towards the inside curve of a bend depending on the driver's speed and steering angle.

The Platinum Edition option is available on Cayenne, Cayenne S and Cayenne E-Hybrid models as well as, correspondingly, on the Cayenne Coupe.

Power options

There are no changes, however, to the powertrains in any of the Cayenne models. Powering the base Cayenne is a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine sending 340hp to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Driving the Cayenne E-Hybrid is the same engine but with a 136hp electric motor providing a total output of 462hp. Its 17.9kWh battery is enough to deliver around 42km of electric-only range. The Cayenne S, meanwhile, uses a twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6 to achieve 440hp and a 0-100km/h time of 5.2 seconds.

When is the Cayenne Platinum Edition arriving in Ireland?

The Platinum Edition Cayenne is on sale now with deliveries expected in May. Irish pricing has yet to be confirmed, but, with all the extra equipment, expect a considerable premium over standard Cayenne and Cayenne Coupe models, which start from €95,055 and €98,614 for the Cayenne E-Hybrid and Cayenne Coupe E-Hybrid, respectively.
